This is mainly a bugfix release, but some interesting features have been also added :

• Google Analytics support : just enter you Analytics ID in the config file and access to Ajxp will be logged. Also implemented a base for the analytics « Event » (see in your analytics reports « Content »> »Events »), if you turn this on, AjaXplorer actions are also logged in google analytics. Only the « download » action is implemented in this release.
• GUI layout persistance across sessions : going a step further in ergonomy, various GUI parameters are now automatically stored in the user preferences, allowing to find your GUI back when you log in on another computer for example.
• « Create Zip » online action : this was in fact nearly done, since the multiple download was creating a zip then sending for download.
• New configuration variables to ease customization : as there are as many configs as servers, some simple variables are added for example to disable the Zip functionnalities (very high memory consuming), disable the flash uploader, etc.
• WP-AjaXplorer-0.3 : First « external plugin » officially supported working with the previously released auth.remote. Integrate AjaXplorer seamlessly in your Wordpress authentication system. Tested with Wordpress 2.9.1. AjaXplorer 2.5.5 Necessary. Wp-AjaXplorer is an external download,  that can be found here.

The AjaXplorer team is glad to wish you a happy new year 2010. All the best!

A little gift for those running the forum hunting for a wordpress integration, here is the WordPress-AjaXplorer first realease! It’s of course a beta, but should be working for the basic create/delete users and login/logout from within wordpress GUI. And it’s a very good illustration of how to use the remote.auth plugin for external interfacing.

And by the way, there are also an update of the german language file, and a new file for our friends from Poland. Download i18n files here. Thanks to the translators!

Ok, we are still fixing bugs here and there and developing the integration of AjaXplorer with other CMS, stay tuned!

I all,

I’m packing for a week of ski here in France, so on behalf of the team, I want to wish every ajaxplorer user a merry christmas! We still have a lot of plans for next year, among others the developement of those CMS-integration-plugins (at least trying to test them better), the potential developement of other backends (java?), and of course the never-ending bug chase. All of this trying to keep time to develop our own projects, not always evident…

A very special thanks for this year’s donators : Hannes Bärstchi, Jean-Marie Mauclert, Craig Olofson, and sourceforge users dlmfisher, bossmancg, naich and kevandju. This is mainly a 2.5.3 bugfix, but as you know a bugfix never comes alone : see the demo for the brand new GUI, using the Oxygen color scheme!

Like in the previous release, you are stronly encouraged to upgrade, as a lot of bugs have been fixed. If you are already using 2.5.*, upgrade will be straightfoward. If you are using version 2.4 or before, please read migration instructions here.

Thanks to Allan Asmussen, the danish translation is now available. You can download it here : ajaxplorer.info/resources/da_2.5.2.zip or directly from the SVN repository. Just place the da.php file inside your « AJXP_INSTALL_PATH/client/i18n/ » folder, and it will be available.

Also, we are very near from a 2.5.3 release, which will fix a big amount of bugs, enhance some layout problems, and introduce cross-repository copy (depending on the repository driver). Thus, there are new strings introduced in the i18n files, and we need the translators to have a look to the latest SVN version of language files and update them! As usual, don’t forget to open and save the files as UTF-8. You can send me your changes at team (at) the_site_your_are_on.

Hi, thanks to Luk Boone, the 2.5.2 dutch language file is up-to-date. You can download it here : www.ajaxplorer.info/resources/nl_2.5.2.zip. Extract the file and just drop it in AJXP_INSTALL/client/i18n/ folder.

This is a bugfix of 2.5.1. Mainly :

• Fixed various download problems, and fixed the way download is performed, avoiding leaving the GUI on error.
• Tracked E_NOTICE errors
• Better documented the « LANG=C » case via the F.A.Q of this site
• Better resizing for the splitter (keeps the ratios on resize).
• Plus various bugs fixes, see Releases > AjaXplorer 2.5.2

What’s new in 2.5?

• Killer features : the publiclets (e.g. « Generate public download url »), resumeable download, chmod action
  
• GUI Usability & Performance : keeping the effort on GUI « stabilization » on many browsers, automatic pagination for folders containing tons of items, the administration panel is replaced by a specific driver, thus the standard Ajxp GUI is used for managing the repositories, the users, etc.
• Plug-ins Architecture : the authentification mechanism, the configuration management, and the data access are now fully plug-in oriented. And a bunch of new plug-ins come with the distribution, to show the power of this architecture : connect AjaXplorer to an LDAP server for users management, use it as an FTP client or a MySQL database explorer, develop your own connections… A plug-in can now come with its own resources (images, js, css, i18n) so that we can publish plugins independantly from the core distribution. Everything is done to integrate AjaXplorer more easily inside other systems. One leitmotiv : TEST, CONTRIBUTE!!!

Migration from 2.4 : the best solution is to install in a new folder, then copy the server/conf/repo.ser and the server/users/ content from the old distribution to the new one, be sure to clear your browser cache, and it’s running fine. Do not override the server/conf/conf.php, but open it and edit with your own values if necessary. There are a lot of new stuff in it.

Migration from 2.5.1 : just unzip and overwrite the files of the previous distrib, there should be no changes.

Freash install : Download, unzip and access via your web server : the diagnostic tool will run once and tell you if potential problems are found. If everything is ok, you will directly access to AjaXplorer, now change the admin password and you are ready to use!

Well, it was clearly a bad news : the site ajaxplorer.info was hacked during on the 13  july 2009, naturally just the night before an important gig, so I had to put it down for a few days. But the good news is that it had nothing to do with the AjaXplorer installed on the server, but it was a wordpress security problem. My fault, i had not updated the wordpress install,  and I will right now subscribe the wordpress rss feed telling urging to upgrade when they find a problem. Now everything should come back to normal, and we are back on the 2.5.1 to fix the important bugs and make a 2.5.2 as soon as possible. Especially, we had a lot of things broken with special characters in the 2.5.1, thanks to everyone for testing and reporting!

Last but not least, you have been waiting for a long time now, it’s hot, it’s here : AjaXplorer 2.5 !

First of all, please be aware that as all odd versions, this is a dev version : it is already quite stable but is in fact mainly dedicated to testing the new features and architecture. So please download, install, test and report bugs, so that the next stable version (2.6) can go out soon! Meanwhile, an effort will be done on the documentation.
