On the road to 3.0, this version fixes a lot of bugs and expand the new architecture to make the software more and more modular. Basic plugins are implemented for all the new features such as metadata, notification, various previewer and online image editors, new uploaders,etc.  See the full changelog between 2.7.2 and 2.7.3 here.

Beta testers read this!

If you are interested in giving a hand, please give a try to this version! But to be really helpfull, it will be useless to install, test a folder browsing and say « ok it’s working ».  Instead, you should focus on a given set of feature you want to test, and try to tweak it in many ways to find bugs.

For example : Install a plugin that is not activated by default : check that it’s easy to install, does it need a little documentation? Can you write it in english and send it to us? Then try using the plugin in various ways, various configs, in conjunctions with other plugins, using special characters when you can (like accented characters), etc.  Switch to you language and look for missing i18n strings!

Once you have found various bugs, and once you have checked they are not already in the forum, open a thread in the forum and post them as a bunch, selecting the 3.0 Bugs category, and avoiding posting one thread per bug. Use an explicit title like : « 2.7.3 editor.pixlr bugs ».

I’m happy to announce the release of various packages of AjaXplorer.  As before, the 2.6.X is the stable branch (production ready), and the 2.7.X the developement branch ‘test purpose). The 2.6.1 comes with two interesting utilities, WP-AjaXplorer and Joomla-Ajaxplorer for « plugging » into your CMS existing users.

AjaXplorer 2.6.1

Minor version, still enhancing the security, fixing non-flash upload for FTP plugin, and fixing the auth.remote plugin for interfacing with other CMS. Thus upgrade is recommended if you want to use the bridge between Wordpress or Joomla and AjaXplorer, or if you are encountering problems with FTP.
[Upgrade from 2.6] If you want to postpone the upgrade, you should just at least remove the plugin access.ssh to fix the security hole. Otherwise, basically, the upload and override should be ok, except for the conf.php file if you have modified it. If you have a « basic » install, there should be no problems, backup your server/conf and server/users folders to be safe.

CMS Interface : Wordpress & Joomla

Thanks to Manfred from Austria who hired me to develop the Joomla plugin, you can now interface joomla users and ajaxplorer. The wordpress one has been updated with more parameters, and rewritten into a php class. Warning, these will work only with 2.6.1.

How-to is included inside both archives. Basically, you’ll have to both configure AjaXplorer to use the auth.remote plugin as authentification plugin, and configure your CMS to use the specific plugin distributed in the zip.

AjaXplorer 2.7.2 : Another Beta for AjaXplorer 3.0

Following the 2.7.1 which introcuded a brand new architecture, the 2.72 fixes a great number of bugs, improves layouts on many way, introduce the PDF viewer via ImageMagick, etc. See directly the release note, download, play, test, report back!

Now that it’s getting stable, I’ll focus on new plugins for the next dev release, pdf viewers, images editors, mail notifications, etc. If you have time, please have a look at the existing plugins, try to understand how they work, and contribute with new ones! We need help!

AjaXplorer 2.6 : Security Fixes

Vulnerabilities were found in the previous versions by Julien Cayssol. They are fixed in 2.6 version and thus UPGRADING IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for all productions environnements. If you are using 2.5.5, a specific package is released that you can very simply use to override your current installation without touching anything to your configs. Otherwise, you’ll have to follow the 2.5.5 and previous upgrade instructions.

As the vulnerabilities where found during a massive refactoring, the 2.6 just contains the  vulnerabilities fixes, nothing more. See 2.7.1 if you would like to test the latest features!

AjaXplorer 2.7.1 : Early Beta for AjaXplorer 3.0

A huge refactoring was performed on both the server and the client side, leading to a very high degree of modularisation of the architecture. This should still be totally compatible with the previous versions configs (users, repositories, preferences), but not with the plugins and GUI customizations that will probably need a bit of rewriting.

Due to the profound changes, we need to beta-test the architecture and we need help for that! Every people willing to install and play with this package is welcome! You may then follow the 2.7.X versions that should fix the bugs and lead to the stable 3.0. Some features are still not totally finished (ssh does not work, for example), some may be added before main release, with your help. I’m spending some time writing developer documentation, it can be found here). Thus if you have customized your  installation with specific plugins or GUI customisation, you may want to have a look, ask questions, play with the new architecture… May be your specific customization can turn out to be a killer plugin for next version??

I will open a « 3.0 Bugs » category in the forum, please use it as the bugtracker, setting any bug you add with this category. Please check for duplicates, and be precise in bugs description. Already a very special « big up » to Jean-Marie for testing the SVN and helping me going to this 2.7.1!

This is mainly a bugfix release, but some interesting features have been also added :

• Google Analytics support : just enter you Analytics ID in the config file and access to Ajxp will be logged. Also implemented a base for the analytics « Event » (see in your analytics reports « Content »> »Events »), if you turn this on, AjaXplorer actions are also logged in google analytics. Only the « download » action is implemented in this release.
• GUI layout persistance across sessions : going a step further in ergonomy, various GUI parameters are now automatically stored in the user preferences, allowing to find your GUI back when you log in on another computer for example.
• « Create Zip » online action : this was in fact nearly done, since the multiple download was creating a zip then sending for download.
• New configuration variables to ease customization : as there are as many configs as servers, some simple variables are added for example to disable the Zip functionnalities (very high memory consuming), disable the flash uploader, etc.
• WP-AjaXplorer-0.3 : First « external plugin » officially supported working with the previously released auth.remote. Integrate AjaXplorer seamlessly in your Wordpress authentication system. Tested with Wordpress 2.9.1. AjaXplorer 2.5.5 Necessary. Wp-AjaXplorer is an external download,  that can be found here.

A little gift for those running the forum hunting for a wordpress integration, here is the WordPress-AjaXplorer first realease! It’s of course a beta, but should be working for the basic create/delete users and login/logout from within wordpress GUI. And it’s a very good illustration of how to use the remote.auth plugin for external interfacing.

And by the way, there are also an update of the german language file, and a new file for our friends from Poland. Download i18n files here. Thanks to the translators!

Ok, we are still fixing bugs here and there and developing the integration of AjaXplorer with other CMS, stay tuned!

I’m packing for a week of ski here in France, so on behalf of the team, I want to wish every ajaxplorer user a merry christmas! We still have a lot of plans for next year, among others the developement of those CMS-integration-plugins (at least trying to test them better), the potential developement of other backends (java?), and of course the never-ending bug chase. All of this trying to keep time to develop our own projects, not always evident…

This is mainly a 2.5.3 bugfix, but as you know a bugfix never comes alone : see the demo for the brand new GUI, using the Oxygen color scheme!

Like in the previous release, you are stronly encouraged to upgrade, as a lot of bugs have been fixed. If you are already using 2.5.*, upgrade will be straightfoward. If you are using version 2.4 or before, please read migration instructions here.

Thanks to Allan Asmussen, the danish translation is now available. You can download it here : ajaxplorer.info/resources/da_2.5.2.zip or directly from the SVN repository. Just place the da.php file inside your « AJXP_INSTALL_PATH/client/i18n/ » folder, and it will be available.

Also, we are very near from a 2.5.3 release, which will fix a big amount of bugs, enhance some layout problems, and introduce cross-repository copy (depending on the repository driver). Thus, there are new strings introduced in the i18n files, and we need the translators to have a look to the latest SVN version of language files and update them! As usual, don’t forget to open and save the files as UTF-8. You can send me your changes at team (at) the_site_your_are_on.

Hi, thanks to Luk Boone, the 2.5.2 dutch language file is up-to-date. You can download it here : www.ajaxplorer.info/resources/nl_2.5.2.zip. Extract the file and just drop it in AJXP_INSTALL/client/i18n/ folder.
